Discovery Safely and Spectacularly Returns  (Wednesday, August 10, 2005)

Safely back on Earth, STS-114 Commander Eileen Collins called the flight a "fantastic mission," noting "we brought Discovery back in great shape."

During their two weeks in space, Commander Collins and her six crewmates tested out new safety procedures and delivered supplies and equipment the International Space Station.

Discovery lifts off  (Tuesday, July 26, 2005)

It was been a long two weeks for space enthusiasts. At 10:39am EDT from Launch Pad 39B, Space Shuttle Discovery returned to flight, going back into the sky and beyond.

NASA's Space Shuttle fleet has returned to flight after more than two years of hard work by the entire NASA team. ( View Launch Video from NASA.gov)

Discovery and the seven-member STS-114 crew will travel to the International Space Station, testing new safety procedures and delivering supplies to the orbital outpost. The shuttle and its crew will return in 13 days.

2012 Olympics Bid Update

London passes Paris to win 2012 Olympic Bid  (Wednesday, July 06, 2005)

In what some would see as an upset, London won the rights to the 2012 Summer Olympics Games, beating Paris in final round, after Moscow, New York City, and Madrid were all eliminated in preceding rounds during voting that took place in Singapore at the 117th IOC Session and election of the host city for the Games in 2012.
